Why spoil such a great year by writing a book about it? Well, it has quite a bit to do with the psychology of taking a year off. Taking a year off just to jet around the continent looking for birds seems downright indulgent, but taking a year off to write a book seems perfectly 21st Century. Not to mention that I would never have had the discipline to take such detailed journal notes if I hadn't convinced myself that it was for "the book." One last advantage is that with the a book, it is easier to overcome the temptation to bore acquaintances with endless talk of "my Big Year", since doing so now would only be giving away the contents of my book.
So, which lucky publisher have I chosen to get my exploits in print? Well, I haven't even gotten to that point. More likely than not, I will join the ranks of "self-publisher." Counting up friends and family, I am certain that I could give away at least 50 books. Why bring in a middle man to get in the way of success like that?
If you are interested in getting a copy of the book in whatever form it takes once it is completed, please fill out the form below. This is just an expression of interest, not a commitment by you to buy anything or a committment by me to actually write anything.
